In Major Taylor’s time road congestion wasn’t near the issue like today. Cyclists of the Major’s era contended less with 4-wheels and more with 4-legs passing them. Back then horses, and a few horseless carriages, made up road traffic.
These days cycling is completely different. Cyclists are forced to share the road with distracted, aggressive and impatient drivers. Overcrowded roadways are the norm be it urban or rural riding. It’s hardly an exaggeration to say cycling is well more dangerous today then during the times Major Taylor trained and competed.
These days one way to be a safer cyclist is to be more visible. Give approaching motorists the ability to see you from a distance. Once closer, drivers need to know to pass you a safe distance to your left. The law, or norm, in many states is 3 feet. With the bright yellow color of the ‘Gimme Three Feet’ cycling jacket you’ll stand out better to motorists and offer them a reminder to allow you proper passing room.
The ‘Gimme Three Feet’ jacket is constructed of light weight, wind/water resistant material. Jacket features include full-length heavy-duty front zipper, four rear storage pockets [one zippered for securing contents] and a rear reflective safety tab for extra visibility in low light conditions.
The ‘Gimme Three Feet’ jacket is sized larger than our cycling jerseys to allow for wearing over base layers. Additional length is added to the sleeves and rear hem to allow for more movement room when using as an outer layer. A taller collar than our standard cycling jersey and elastic at the wrists help keep wind and water out.
Available sizes Small – 3XL. See measurements in Jacket Fit & Sizing section below.
